Ceiling Insulation for Offices & Hospitals in London, Kent

Ceiling Insulation for Offices & Hospitals in London, Kent

One of the best features of suspended ceilings is also one of the least recognised; they make superb insulators acoustically and thermally improving the work environment and saving you money.

Insulation is one of the most cost effective solutions around to heating and cooling any interior space whether office, school, hospital or retail shop. Whilst air conditioning and heating systems will always be an important part of building services, its not a good solution to continually fit more of everything when a well installed suspended ceiling will make a vast difference.

A common sight in Kent and London offices and other commercial interiors for aesthetic reasons like hiding away pipework, cabling and ducting, the enclosed airspace created by a suspended ceiling is a superb insulator.

Acoustic insulation and sound proofing usually works because of air gaps; in places like recording studios you will often find empty boxes or air pocketed foam on the walls. Soundwaves travel quite cleanly through solid objects but air gaps in between the solids cause soundwaves to bounce around and break up. The air gap created by a suspended ceiling does just this, whether you want to keep noise out caused by something above you, or prevent disturbing others from your own noisy activities, that simple space against the ceiling will dissipate an amazing amount of noise pollution.

Even more useful to commercial businesses in London or Kent are the thermal insulation properties of suspended ceilings. Just as with sound, air gaps are superb insulation, trapping warm or cool air inside them and creating a barrier to the outside, just as in a quilt or icebox; the thing making the difference is the air space. In winter this means that the heat you generate wont just disappear through the ceiling, and neither will cold air filter down, the suspended ceiling creates a large buffer zone and has the added benefit of holding a lot of warm air lower down the room where your team is working rather than floating around at the top of a high ceiling.

That all adds up to plenty of energy efficiency; heating wont have to run as high or as long to warm the space up and keep it warm all day, and thats better for the environment and your heating bills.

Installation of raised access flooring has a similar effect to suspended ceilings, adding another air gap on the floor to keep cool, air conditioned air in during summer or to cut down on noise pollution from below.

Sometimes the best solution isnt the most obvious, and a cold or noisy space is best improved with expert installation of a suspended ceiling rather than expensive heating equipment or sound proofing boards which can be tied together through quality interior design as part of a complete interior refurbishment or office fit out.
