Roof and Underfloor Insulation installation of polyester, fibreglass and glasswool insulation

Roof and Underfloor Insulation installation of polyester, fibreglass and glasswool insulation

WE ARE ANIMAL INTRUSION EXPERTS!

We recommend polyester batts for two reasons:

1. For those suffering from respiratory issues or asthma, polyester insulation does NOT shed fibres the way fibreglass or glasswool batts do.

2. Rats are unable to penetrate polyester insulation so they are not able to nest in polyester insulation.

Insulation Installation — Roof cavity and Underfloor Installation of Polyester and Fibreglass Batts

We supply and install insulation bats at competitive rates, installing Fibreglass (Glasswool), Rockwool and Polyester insulation batts.

Polyester and Glasswool or Rockwool batts are a bulk fibre insulation which hold large pockets of air within its structure, reducing dramatically the transfer of conducted and convected heat.

The thermal efficiency of an insulation product is stated as an R value which is a measure of the batt’s resistance to heat flow and will depend on the type of material, its thickness and density. Polyester and Fibreglass batts are available in the appropriate R values and offer a practical solution to insulating your home.

Polyester Batts

We recommend polyster batts — despite the higher cost — for two significant reasons.

1. For those who suffer from allergies or have some type of respiratory condition. The reason for this is because polyester is a synthetic fibre, and is not a fibrous product. Fibrous products like Glasswool or Rockwool insulation shed fibres as they deteriorate, which become airborne. These fibres can (and often do) find their way into the living areas of the property through light fittings and other gaps between the ceiling and the living areas.

2. Polyester batts are much more physically stronger than fibreglass or rockwool insulation. This means that rats are not able to pull apart polyester insulation to make a nest so they are far less likely to do any serious damage to your insulation than if you had fibreglass insulation in your roof space.

Features & Benefits

Made from strong polyester fibres, they are lightweight and odourless.

Thermal and acoustic performance; Recyclable.

Non allergenic containing no chemicals or pesticides.

Non-irritant — containing no short fibres and will not irritate eyes, skin or lungs.

Safe to install no need for protective clothing (although our staff generally wear protective clothing and masks during installation).

Fire retardant and insect and vermin resistant.

Australian made and complying with the BCA (Building Code of Australia).

Rockwool Batts

We recommend Rockwool insulation when noise is a primary issue. With superior acoustic properties — and a higher price tag than Glasswool Fibreglass batts — the installation of Rockwool batts will make a significant difference to the acoustics in your property. Manufactured from rocks and minerals, it also has a very high melting point due to the production process it goes through and is therefore extremely fire resistant.

Features & Benefits

Thermal and acoustic performance; Recyclable .

Non allergenic — contains no chemicals or pesticides.

Manufactured from bio-soluble fibres negating any health concerns.

Safe to install no need for protective clothing (although our staff generally wear protective clothing and masks during installation)

Fire retardant and insect and vermin resistant.

Glasswool Fibreglass (Pink) Batts

Manufactured from glass fibres, glasswool or fibreglass batts are the most cost effective of all insulation batts and the most popular insulation to be installed in Australia. It suffers from installation issues due to the fibres it sheds and the irritation it causes to both skin and lungs and installers are required to wear protective clothing, gloves and masks.

Features & Benefits

The most popular batts on the market, pink batts account for around 90% of the insulation installed throughout Australia.

Thermal and acoustic performance; Recyclable .

Non allergenic — contains no chemicals or pesticides.

Manufactured from bio-soluble fibres negating any health concerns.

Fire retardent and insect and vermin resistant as the batts are treated with natural salts and minerals

Australian made and complying with the BCA (Building Code of Australia).

Underfloor Insulation

Allergex supplies and installs underfloor insulation. Installing underfloor insulation will offer dramatic cost savings on the running of heating and cooling and will make a huge difference to the effectiveness of the indoor heating and cooling.

We generally install polyester batts underfloor due to its denser qualities. The process involves positioning the insulation batts between the floor joists and then strapping the insulation up so that it does not sag as it ages. All power must be turned off to the property whilst we are installing the insulation. We supply a generator so that vital appliances can continue to operate while we are installing the insulation.
